Welcome to Desert Sands

Desert Sands Unified School District is enrolling incoming students for the upcoming school year.

What is an incoming student?

An incoming student is a student enrolling in a DSUSD school for the first time. This includes:

  • Students starting Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten (Kindergarten if the child turns 5 years old on or before September 2020, or Transitional Kindergarten if they turn 5 between September 2 and December 2, 2020).
  • Students who have moved into district boundaries.
  • Students who currently live within the boundaries, but previously attended a private or other non-DSUSD school.
  • Students who live outside of district boundaries, but are planning to attend a DSUSD school in the 2020/21 school year on an approved transfer (does not include students currently attending a DSUSD school on an approved transfer).

How do I enroll my incoming student?

Registration options differ depending on whether your student will be attending his/her school of residence (the school the student is typically assigned based on home address). Please carefully review all information below to learn how to register your student.

  • All incoming students:
    • Before beginning, gather all student documents required for registration.  Your student registration will not be processed until all documents have been submitted. Please carefully review the following information regarding required student registration documents.
    • When completing student registration, information provided must match the information on a student’s legal registration documents.
    • Summer registration process differs depending on whether a student will be attending his/her school of residence.  Please see the applicable section below for instructions.

    • To begin the online registration process:
      • If you’ve had a student enrolled at DSUSD in the last 3 years or have a student currently attending a DSUSD school, you will have an existing ParentVUE account. Go to and login to your existing ParentVue account, then proceed to Online Registration tab. Request help with your ParentVUE login or password.
      • If you have not had any students enrolled in the previous 3 years or are a new DSUSD family, create a new ParentVUE account, then proceed to the Online registration tab.
    • Please Note: Online registration may only be completed via the ParentVUE website; it cannot be completed using the app. You will be required to upload student documents online. Please have documents ready before you begin the online registration process. You will also need access to a printer to download and complete additional forms. If you do not have access to a printer, you may pick up a copy of these forms from a location in front of the Child Welfare and Attendance office. If you do not have Internet access or cannot otherwise register your student online, please refer to the next section regarding how to register your student using a paper registration packet.

  • Incoming students attending school on an approved transfer or paper option for families without Internet access:
    • Students who are new to DSUSD and will be attending a school based on an approved transfer need to submit a paper registration packet.
    • Paper registration packets are available for pick-up from your school site.
    • Completed registration packets can be returned to the school site.
