Storm Causing Closure

Posted on 08/20/2023

UPDATE: Monday, August 21, 2:00 p.m.

Notice to Parents and Guardians:

We have weathered the storm, and I want to thank you for your understanding as we closed schools today, Monday, August 21. It is my sincere hope that everyone is safe and facing limited repairs and recovery.

Tomorrow, we will be back to school and work as usual! School start times will be the same for any Tuesday, and the district offices will reopen at 7:30 am.

I am, as always, so very proud of the entire DSUSD family and our resiliency. Together, we are strong.

Travel to schools tomorrow may include detours or road closures, please leave early, exercise caution, and be prepared to use an alternate route, if necessary. City websites include information on road closures and detours. Please consult these websites for additional information.

Be safe, and we will see you tomorrow.

Notice to Parents and Guardians:

We hope this message reaches you in good health. We want to inform you about a decision that has been made regarding our schools’ operations due to the current severe weather conditions in our area.

After careful consideration in the interest of the safety of our students, staff, and their families, we have decided to close all DSUSD schools tomorrow, August 21, 2023. This decision has been made to ensure that everyone remains safe and avoids any unnecessary travel or exposure to potentially hazardous road conditions. Please note that the district offices will also be closed.

We understand that this decision may cause some inconvenience but the safety and well-being of our school community remain our top priority.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. We appreciate your support and keeping our students safe and look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday.

If you have any immediate concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Stay safe!
