The 2023-24 school calendar, originally approved and posted over a year ago, was minimally altered at the 3/21/23 Board of Education meeting. Although minimal changes were necessary, we did not make drastic changes out of respect to the community that had built plans around the calendar.

We do want the community to know that we heard your concerns regarding the extreme heat at the start of the school year. We are also concerned about the heat. DSUSD Staff is working with each school site to ensure that heat mitigation plans are in place and necessary equipment has been identified and ordered for each site. We have also asked the calendar committee to consider starting school later for the 2024-25 school year and beyond. We will be sending out a survey before the end of the school year to allow families to provide feedback on the school calendars moving forward.
