The Riverside County Science and Engineering Fair was held on March 2, 2024 at the Riverside Convention Center where a total of 72 students were awarded prizes and honored for their accomplishments. This year’s participation was the highest since 2016. The awards were split into three, elementary division (grade 4-5), junior division (grade 6-8), and senior division (high school). The junior and senior division winners advanced to the California State Science and Engineering Fair.

We celebrated two middle school students who placed gold in the junior division and will be moving on to the state fair in April. Evelyn Trujillo, grade 7 from John Glenn Middle School, for her project Drone Explorers: Flying to the Rescue and Giselle Turner, grade 8 from Paige Middle School, for her project Can a prosthetic hand be made at home with cheaper materials?

Both junior division winners also were nominated for 2024 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.
