Child Welfare & Attendance

TRANSFER REQUEST INFORMATION

Desert Sands Unified School District office of Child Welfare and Attendance will again accept student transfer requests for the 2020-2021 school year, beginning May 29, 2020.

For requests submitted between December 3, 2019 - February 28, 2020, parents/guardians will be notified via email/mail by May 29, 2020 regarding the status.

Request your transfer: www.k12transfers.com

TO APPLY FOR WASHINGTON CHARTER ELEMENTARY AND PALM DESERT CHARTER MIDDLE, YOU MUST CONTACT THOSE SCHOOLS DIRECTLY.

A transfer request is required annually for:

  • students that reside outside of DSUSD boundaries.
  • students who reside in DSUSD boundaries, currently on a transfer to a different school, and will be moving up to middle or high school next year.

A request is NOT required annually if the student is on a transfer, lives within DSUSD boundaries, and is staying at the same school next year (as long as the address has not changed since first approved).

Please make sure to fill out the application according to your district of residence (e.g. if your child currently attends DSUSD but resides in CVUSD or PSUSD boundaries, you must select CVUSD or PSUSD as your district of residence, and then select DSUSD as the current district your child is attending, and then the district you would like to attend). Filling out a transfer request incorrectly may result in a delay in your request, i.e. home address, district of residence, reasons for transfer must also be filed correctly.

Transportation is the responsibility of parent/guardian unless provided by specific grant provisions. A district transfer may be revoked due to unsatisfactory attendance, citizenship, and scholarship.
