SHHS winner Savannah Vela

The Shadow Hills High School Speech & Debate Club participated in The Rotary Club of Indio’s Four-Way Speech Contest. This event marked the first post-COVID contest hosted by the Rotary Club. Their support of the students allowed them to participate in the contest and win the chance to compete at a higher level. We congratulate the team on their outstanding speeches and their bravery to participate in new challenges. In second place, Alejandro Zuinga, 11th grade, won a  $100 prize for his compelling speech on the ethics of mass surveillance.

The first place winner, Savannah Vela, 11th grade, won a $200 prize with her insights on the danger of fake news and clickbait in journalism. Savannah has also won the opportunity to compete in a sponsored Rotary District Competition that will be held in Beaumont.

Congratulations Students and thank you to Ms. Kristina Claus for submitting this amazing news!
