Classified Substitute

In order to be considered for employment as a non-teaching substitute for Desert Sands, you must apply, via EDJOIN, and complete the following checklist and provide the necessary documents.

Checklist:

  • Classified Employment Application.
  • TB clearance (testing administered within the last sixty days acceptable).
  • Social Security Card (to satisfy the Internal Revenue Services [IRS] ).
  • I-9 and W-4 forms-Original card to be copied by Personnel Services employee. Please note: If you do not have your Social Security card, you must apply for a duplicate through Social Security Administration (1-800-772-1213). Riverside County Office of Education will not issue pay warrants until verification of Social Security is received.
  • Driver's License or Passport (to satisfy IRS I-9 information)-Copy to be made by Personnel Services employee.
  • Payroll information provided by Personnel Services.
  • Applicant must meet the minimum qualifications and licensing requirements to the classification.
  • Fingerprint clearance - Fingerprint Clearance is Mandatory. Fingerprint appointments are set by Personnel Services and must be processed through the Department of Justice (DOJ). Upon clearance, the Office of Personnel Services notifies Substitutes.
  • Physical examination - which specifies a person is free from any disabling disease (health form provided by Personnel Services)
  • Some substitute classifications are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Agree to conditions of employment with Desert Sands Unified School District.
